BREAKING NEWS: At least 42 people are injured and 20 dead after what appears to be a terror attack in a crowded Orlando night club.
Pulse club, one of the most popular gay night clubs in Orlando, was attacked at approximately 2 AM local time. Police say when the attack became a hostage situation, they chose to fire at the gunman, killing him. They are not yet sure if he was the only shooter. Hospitals in the area are on lock down.
Many videos, images, and interviews with eyewitness have been reported.
Orlando Police Chief, John Mina, stated “It appears he was organized and well-prepared,” had an assault-style weapon a handgun, and “some type of [other] device on him.” He also commented the shooter is not from Orlando. The identity of the shooter is not yet known.
FBI Assistant Special Agent, Ron Hopper told Fox News, “there are allegations the individual made threats in the past to having ties to terrorist organizations. At this time we’re looking at all angles right now. We do have suggestions that that individual may have leanings toward [radical Islam], that particular ideology. But right now we can’t say definitively so we’re still running everything around.”
The Pulse’s Facebook page posted “Everyone get out of Pulse and keep running,” shortly after the attack began.
People are being warned to stay away from the area. Anyone who is in the area is advised to stay inside. There are currently bomb-sniffing dogs on the scene as police and FBI investigate the situation.
This shooting is the second in the Orlando area this weekend, just as The Voice star Christina Grimmie was murdered by a deranged fan Friday night.
Eyewitness report hearing multiple gunshots and even an explosion during the attack. More details will be given as they are available.
