Ending the War in Iraq: A Promise Kept… Or is it? Many of us remember this video passing around in 2011 and 2012 where President Obama boasted about his belief that he ended the wars in the Middle East. More specifically the war in Iraq.

If you can stomach watching the whole thing you’ll hear his boasts about pulling troops out and leaving the locals to handle matters, but that’s not quite how things worked out.

A recent article by the New York Times has been published pointing out that Obama currently holds the record for “Longest Sitting President at War”.

President Obama came into office seven years ago pledging to end the wars of his predecessor, George W. Bush. On May 6, with eight months left before he vacates the White House, Mr. Obama passed a somber, little-noticed milestone: He has now been at war longer than Mr. Bush, or any other American president.

If the United States remains in combat in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria until the end of Mr. Obama’s term — a near-certainty given the president’s recent announcement that he will send 250 additional Special Operations forces to Syria — he will leave behind an improbable legacy as the only president in American history to serve two complete terms with the nation at war.

Mr. Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 and spent his years in the White House trying to fulfill the promises he made as an antiwar candidate, would have a longer tour of duty as a wartime president than Franklin D. Roosevelt, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon or his hero Abraham Lincoln.

Now for those of us living in reality, we all know Obama ended Operation Iraqi Freedom, started Operation New Dawn and now there’s Operation Inherent Resolve. Troops deployed in Afghanistan have served in Operation Enduring Freedom and now Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. In both wars, Obama stepped up to the plate to command the first day he entered office. In both wars he refused to do what was needed to WIN! Our service-members have done all they could with Obama tying their hands.

I’ll bet the idiots who gave Obama the Nobel Peace Prize are kicking themselves in the ass right now.
