George Zimmerman is auctioning off the gun he says he used to shoot and kill 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in 2012, Mediaite reported on Wednesday.
“I’m a free American,†Zimmerman said of his decision. “I can do what I like with my possessions.â€
The online auction is set to begin on Thursday morning, a year to the day after he was injured in a dispute with Matthew Apperson, who Zimmerman described as being a Black Lives Matter “sympathizer.â€
“I am proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds will be used to: fight BLM violence against Law Enforcement officers, ensure the demise of Angela Correy’s persecution career and Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric,†George wrote on the auction website. “Now is your opportunity to own a piece of American History.â€
He also described the gun as being operable, “attempts by the Department of Justice on behalf of B. Hussein Obama.â€
He was acquitted of second-degree murder charges in the death of Martin in July 2013.
