Two British teenagers, who have not been identified by the media due to their young ages, have been accused of brutally beating 39-year-old Angela Wrightson to death in her own home. The girls, who were 13 and 14 at the time, allegedly entered the woman’s home around 9pm on Dec. 8, 2014 and proceeded to bludgeon the woman with various household objects including a television set, a shovel, a coffee table, a computer printer, a kettle, and a wooden stick studded with screws.
The girls had some sort of personal relationship with the woman, as it is reported that they would visit her to get her to buy them alcohol and she would let them stay with her in her home. The two girls were in the custody of social services at the time of the attack and had run away from their respective custodial homes a total of 18 times leading up to the attack.
During the brutal attack, they paused to take selfies with the bleeding woman who was slumped over on the couch. They sent the pictures through Snapchat to unknown recipients with the caption “Nah xx.”
Around 11 pm, the girls left Wrightson’s home, but returned a few hours later around 2 am to continue to beat the woman, strip most of her clothes off of her unconscious body, and defile it. The teen girls called police around 4 a.m. to ask for a ride home.
Wrightson, who had suffered over 100 injuries from the vicious attack, was found dead in her blood-spattered home. According to social workers, the 14-year-old girl was one of the most volatile young person that they had ever met, and was advised to draw pictures to help her bad mood. After the 14-year-old girl’s arrest, a disturbing drawing was found in her bedroom that she had drawn approximately one week before the murder that depicted a smiling stick figure stabbing another figure with what appears to be a knife.
The teen reportedly attempted to visit her biological mother on the day of the attack, but was turned away and told to “F***k off, Go kill yourself.”
At their trial, the older girl admitted to manslaughter, while the younger girl denied any involvement in the crime. Both were convicted of murder on April 7th, and sentenced to life in prison. Both of the girls were reportedly sobbing as they were led away after their sentencing. They will have to serve a mandatory 15 years of their sentences.
